There are many reasons that can bring us to therapy – temporary difficulties, life time struggles, or the desire to reflect.
If you are experiencing anxiety, panic, depression, grief, sadness, or anger it may help you to talk to someone. As you start to make sense of these feelings their impact on you may lessen. Or, if you feel empty and cut off from your feelings, we can work together on reconnecting with yourself.
I will listen and I can help you work through whatever brings you to therapy. Whilst therapy isn’t always easy, looking at your difficulties can be liberating and life-transforming.
Therapy may include

- Taking time to allow your feelings
- Telling your life story and reviewing significant experiences
- Considering your identity, confidence and sense of empowerment
- Exploring how you make and sustain relationships
- Mapping your memories, reflections on life and dreams
How I work
I offer a non-judgmental, safe and confidential space in which you can talk openly about thoughts and feelings in a way which might not be possible with friends or family.
Together we develop an understanding of what troubles you and why. Through this process you gain a sense of greater control and better understanding of your thoughts and feelings.
Growing your self-awareness, you create space for self-compassion. This increases your understanding of relationship dynamics and repeating unhelpful patterns of behaviour. You become free to live more fully and authentically.
In addition to exploration, I use mindfulness for the treatment of anxiety and depression based on my work within the NHS.
I offer open ended and time limited therapy.
The therapeutic relationship between you and I plays an important part. It is powerful conduct to facilitating change.
I believe that we are all relational beings, shaped and being shaped by the experiences that have, in the past, and continue to influence who we are. This means being open to the other person, and being willing to explore feelings and thoughts in relation to the other person and to the world around us.
My thinking is based on an embodied mind, and the integrative approach allows me to combine traditional therapeutic ideas with contemporary findings from neurobiology and evidence-based models such as CBT. In this way therapy is tailored to suit your needs, rather than you fitting into a method.
Most of my private work is longer term or open-ended at my clients’ request but I also offer time-limited solution-focussed therapy.
How we will work together will depend on your aims and the sorts of difficulties you are experiencing. Usually, we discuss this in the initial appointment.
